Let me tell you a number of things about the HR’s criteria when evaluating the performance of a stewarding department personnel. Why do you need to know these criteria? There are a number of things that you can do to improve your performance as a steward. Knowing the HR criteria will help you even more to become the best steward in your establishment.
Performance standard
The first thing you must know as a new employee is the performance standard. HR will usually inform you of standard operating procedures and how to fulfill your job description. Performance standard is the basis for the criteria that will be the groundwork for your evaluation. The better you do in all the criteria, the better your evaluation will be.
Work quantity
Work quantity is the amount of productivity you output without the help or supervision of your superiors. This basically means that your independence to do work the best you can is tested and evaluated. Minimal coaching from your supervisor is appreciated because most of the time your supervisor has other important things to do than teach you the job you said you were qualified to do.
Job and task knowledge
Since qualifying for the job at hand, you are expected to be knowledgeable of all the tasks that you must do. HR will see if you are confident and looked at as a professional by your peers. You must be proficient and well-versed in the operating manuals and you must show leadership and finesse in your work.
Attitude
The attitude of being positive in every way should always radiate from any employee. As a service professional, a positive attitude should be shown by smiling and being compliant to customers. Your attitude should meet or exceed the standard set by the management team.
Reliability
The management team depends on you and your work. You have to be punctual and not miss work unless justified by a good reason. HR looks at this criteria under a microscope. Absences and habitual lateness can get you reprimanded or fired.
Judgment
As a reliable employee, the team management will entrust to you any decisions within your level. You will be given free reign for any judgment calls as long as it is under your jurisdiction. In no matter will you decide on situations where your supervisor and chief steward should be consulted.
Your own evaluation
If you believe in yourself then the only evaluation you need is your own self-evaluation. As long as you know that you are doing your job and your actions are within the operating manual, then you can be proud of yourself. Always pay attention to your task. Have the presence of mind for the job.

The key here is work knowledge. Know everything you can about your work and you won’t go wrong. Refer only to your supervisor or chief steward if you are faced with a decision that is not under your jurisdiction.
